How To Create Realistic Goals For A Happy Life

“A goal without a plan is just a wish.” -Unknown

Setting goals in life can keep you motivated and excited, which can lead to productivity if you stay committed. However, if your goal is unrealistic or is simply a long-term goal that requires significant time to reach its fruition, you may reach a point where you lose steam and consider giving up. At Live Lethal, we believe you shouldn’t scrap your goals – we believe you should rewrite them by creating realistic goals for a happy life. Here is how you can get started:

1. Before defining a goal, reasonably assess how long it will take you to attain it. If you create a goal for yourself that takes exceedingly longer to accomplish than you originally assumed, you are setting yourself up for defeat. Overestimate how long it might take to attain your goal, because life can and does throw curve balls that postpone the achievement of goals.

2. Be realistic, but don’t lose your enthusiasm. If you are the creative type, chances are you have one idea after another popping into your head that gets your wheels spinning, but let’s get real – it’s time to focus on one major goal and see it through to either success or a redefining phase before flooding your mind with other goals.

3. Hold yourself accountable. Write down one goal along with a non-negotiable time for completion, such as 3 months or 2 years. Then, block out segments of time on at least 4 days per week to work on your goal. Put it in your calendar. Set your alarm clock to remind you to work and create a countdown alarm that tells you how long you have left to get it done. Get up a halfhour early, go to bed a half-hour late, use your lunchbreak or write notes about what needs to get done while waiting for an appointment. The time is there somewhere, so it’s up to you to find it.

4. Don’t burn out on your goal. You may have a realistic goal, but adhering to the timeline you set can leave you running ragged and worn down. While you must spend time working on your goal, you need to give yourself a break, too, because few people have the luxury of only focusing on their goals. Many of us have jobs, family, events, errands and hobbies that keep us going, so practicing self-care to keep yourself happy is imperative to staying mentally and physically healthy.

If you have an amazing goal in mind and need encouragement and support to go after your dream, comment below and the Live Lethal community will give you the empowering words you need to give you that extra push.

Hope this helps… Yours for More Confidence, More Often,
