How to Gain More Confidence in Work and Life
Opening yourself up to the possibility of mobilizing change in your life and taking control of where your life is headed are fed by self-confidence. You need to believe you deserve better and can achieve whatever goals you set for yourself before you even begin to take action. Whether it’s moving forward in your professional industry or taking control over your personal relationships, increasing your self-confidence to a level of empowerment is the only way to succeed. To build your self-confidence, start implementing these 4 steps so you can control your fate:
1. Understand that you are not your achievements. Self-confidence comes from embracing your spectacular self as you are now. Yes, you can set goals and persevere through every obstacle you encounter until you can check off each milestone. Yet, if you believe you are nothing more than the sum of your accomplishments, your self-confidence can be broken down by any setback you experience. Then, suddenly, your failures will be all that you see when you look in the mirror. So, love yourself with no exceptions or expectations and then you’ll effortlessly build your self-esteem.
2. Believe there is more. Too often, we self-sabotage ourselves by thinking that “this” is as good as it gets, so we dare not wish for more. The hidden message behind this fallacy is that by making changes you may actually end up with less than what you have now. Believe there is more out just waiting until you feel confident enough to grab it.
3. Let yourself go after what you want. We all have a baseless sense of guilt that arises when we want something better, something greater than what we have. It steals our confidence and forces us to settle for circumstances that will eventually result in each of us having to deal with regret as the clock keeps ticking. While you should be happy and thankful for what you have at the present moment, it doesn’t mean you cannot strive to earn your own measure of success in work and life.
4. Remind yourself that you deserve the best and are in control of your life. If you feel unhappy or dissatisfied with work or aspects of your life, know that you can enact changes that you deserve. Never look hold your head down and convince yourself that you somehow don’t deserve anything different than what you have. Never feel powerless when all you need is self-confidence to get you through the rough spots.
Building your self-confidence is the first step to harnessing your inner-power, which will lead you to the life you want. So, start by accepting the message that you are amazing and deserve an ultra-satisfying life without having to feel guilty for taking control, wanting more or going after something different.
