8 Lean Proteins To Quickly and Easily Fuel Your Muscles!

Best Proteins to Loose Weight Faster
(and Feel Better)

Eating lean proteins can provide the body with a tremendous amount of benefits.

Lean protein provides a sense of satiety or fullness and can help prevent overeating.

Protein also helps you feel fuller longer than many other foods.

Most people think that the more protein you eat the more muscle and weight you’ll gain.  But the truth is protein can actually help you burn more fat than previously thought.

Protein is one of the hardest nutrients for your body to break down and requires a lot of energy to do so.  When you incorporate protein into your diet every few hours, your body will have to use more energy to break it down, thus helping you to lose more of those stubborn unwanted pounds!

Beyond helping you burn some serious fat, protein also aides in many of the body’s natural processes as well.

Proteins are the body’s building blocks. Bones, muscles, skin and blood are all made up of protein.

After a tough workout, muscles are rebuilt and repaired by the proteins you eat.  Studies show that foods that are rich in protein are heart friendly and provide heart benefits such as lowering cholesterol and blood pressure.

Protein even aids in improving the condition of your skin and slows down the aging process.

Here are some great lean protein options:

1. Chicken

Poultry is a good source of protein.  When possible, choose white meat over dark meat, because it is lower in fat and calories.  Baking, grilling and roasting are the ideal ways of cooking chicken. A chicken breast has about 30 g of protein.

2. Beef

Select beef cuts such as round steak or top sirloin, and ground beef that is at least 90 percent lean to get the protein benefits without the fat.  Trim any visible fat before you cook it.  Lean cuts of beef contain around 36 grams of protein.

3. Eggs

Eggs provide around five grams of protein per serving.  They are the most budget friendly protein source and are the easiest to prepare. They are also versatile to cook from breakfast to dinner. Just use fewer yolks if you are concerned with cholesterol.  One egg contains around 6 g of protein.

4. Fish

Fish is an excellent source of protein.  The oils that are present in fish help to protect our body against heart disease.  Fish also contains high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids that are beneficial to our health and can help protect and ward off ADHD, arthritis and asthma to name a few.  Fish such as salmon and halibut contain around 26 g of protein per serving.

5. Low Fat Dairy Products

Low fat dairy products are an ideal source of lean protein because most of the saturated fat has been removed. They provide vitamin D and calcium which may also help you lose weight. Low fat Mozzarella and Cottage cheese provide the most protein per calorie.  Cottage cheese and Mozzarella cheese provide around 32g of protein per serving!

6. Beans

Plants such as beans are a great source of protein. Beans are also rich in fiber and phytochemicals that may help lower heart diseases and cancer risk. There are a variety of bean types that provide similar nutritional benefits, including navy, pinto and black beans.  One cup of beans provides about 29g of protein per cup.

7. Quinoa

Quinoa is a complete protein that includes all of the amino acids our body needs.  It is a great option for vegans and vegetarians.  Quinoa also has many other healthy nutrients such as magnesium, fiber, and iron.  One serving of quinoa provides 24g of protein.

8. Nuts

Nuts are a great way to get some protein in when you are on the go.  Nuts such as cashews, almonds, pine nuts, and pistachios contain unsaturated fat that is great for your heart, keeps you full longer, and also has essential vitamins and minerals such as omega-3’s and vitamin E.  A serving of nuts provides about 6-8g of protein.
